If we pursue our spouses the way God pursues us what will become of that relationship? God pursues us because He loves us and wants His best for us. Are we pursuing our spouses the same way? If we don't pursue our spouses we leave them open to fall. God pursues us because He is our Father and His love for us is unconditional. I think sometimes we put a condition on our love for our spouses and even our kids to a point. We as women play a pivotal role in our influence on men. The influence can bless, encourage, and strengthen a man toward God or it can curse, discourage, and weaken him.
What if God got tired of us being angry with him all the time? What if Christ said well I don't want to die on a cross for mankind because I am tired of all the terrible things they say to me. What if Christ said why should I die on that cross, they won't appreciate it?
Wives have a job that God so graciously gave and sadly wives now abuse it. I, of all people understand frustration with husbands but we are wrong. Titus 2:3-5; talks about the elder women teaching the younger wives how to be a good wife and what that entails. Women of the world today have lost that. We have allowed the world to consume our thoughts on how we should be wives instead of relying on God's truth.
1 Peter 3:1-6 shows us how to be as wives. The younger generation needs this advice from the older, strong, believing women. Giving up on your husband is not the Christ way, it is the worlds way. Christ is our example whether you are husband or wife.
(*Quick helpful definition *- "unyoked marriage"= Is a marriage that consists of one spouse being a Christian believer and the other spouse not being a Christian believer at the time of marriage. An evenly yoked marriage is the marriage between two believers in Christ.)
The Lord Jesus Christ shows us time and again through scripture that we as husbands and wives were created for certain roles. Christ is a great example for us in that He still loved us even when we hated Him. Jesus sacrificed Himself for His bride-(the church). What does that say about us?
Even if you have an "unyoked marriage" the believing partner is to be a light that Christ can use to bring your spouse to The Father. We all have bad days, but as wives we need to understand that we are our husband's helper, his encourager, supporter, everything Christ is for us personally, we are to be for each other and this is why--> God will use your relationship as a testimony for younger newlyweds going through hard times. Both spouses will be able to lead by the example of God's true love and use that toward each other. It will also play a part in the personal change that happens inside both the husband and wife. Marriage is about the other person. Marriage is not about selfishness. It is about giving yourself and allowing God to change your heart and your mind when it comes to your spouse.
Its about becoming more Christ-like together with your spouse as one in marriage. Prayer is a huge key, but the other part is trusting God's timing. It is on His time not yours. You have no idea what kind of work God is doing with your husband if you are totally nagging him about your life. A home is a man's sanctuary. Where God gives him a mate that listens whole heartedly and is sincere with his emotions. The best example I have of a Godly women would be Abigail, Hannah, and Esther. Each one of those women relied on God and trusted His word and in the end because of their faithfulness to The Father, He was faithful to his promise to each one of them. If I had to choose out of these three women, Abigail would be my favorite because she had a horrible husband. Even when he treated Abigail with such vile disrespect, she still treated him with respect. She was a women of God and obeyed God, she was faithful and God was faithful to help her. Abigail learned a lot from older women in the bible such as Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah and God opened her eyes. I encourage you to read about Abigail in, 1 Samuel 25: 2-42.
I will end this blog with these thoughts...
I pray that all wives who read this will look deep within themselves and search their hearts. Ask God to reveal to you what needs to be changed. Change starts with you. It is not an easy task but it is one that gives you peace and that kind of peace from God is beyond wonderful.
"The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands." (Proverbs 14:1)
(From Proverbs 31: 10-31)
Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life
Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.
